Sheet Metal Superintendent – Commercial HVAC Projects | Columbia, SC | Full-Time

Jennings Mechanical, a premier mechanical contractor specializing in commercial HVAC , plumbing , and mechanical construction , is hiring an experienced Sheet Metal Superintendent to oversee our sheet metal operations in Columbia, SC . If you’re a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of ductwork installation , fabrication , and project supervision , we want to hear from you!

Position Overview:

As a Sheet Metal Superintendent , you will be responsible for managing all aspects of field operations on commercial HVAC projects, from planning and coordination to execution and quality control. You’ll supervise crews, ensure compliance with safety and building codes, and drive projects to successful completion—on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate sheet metal crews on commercial HVAC installation projects

• Plan, schedule, and manage daily operations based on blueprints , specifications , and job schedules

• Oversee the fabrication, layout, and installation of ductwork , ventilation systems , and sheet metal components

• Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations , company policies, and building codes

• Conduct site inspections , monitor progress, troubleshoot issues, and maintain quality control

• Communicate effectively with project managers , general contractors , field personnel , and other trades

• Mentor, train, and evaluate sheet metal workers to improve performance and promote career development

• Manage materials, tools, and equipment to maximize field productivity and reduce delays

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in sheet metal installation or HVAC ductwork , with at least 2+ years in a supervisory or foreman role

• Deep knowledge of commercial HVAC systems , air distribution , fabrication methods , and sheet metal construction

• Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on productivity , safety , and quality control

• Proficient in reading construction drawings , mechanical plans , and spec sheets

• Familiar with job site coordination, workflow scheduling, and progress reporting

• OSHA 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

• Ability to work at heights, lift 50+ lbs, and operate standard tools and equipment
