Position: Pool Operations Supervisor
Department: Facilities
Job Summary: Performs a wide variety of skilled tasks related to the maintenance and repair of all swimming pool and spa facilities and equipment; supervises staff.
Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to): - Ensures pool and spa are maintained in accordance with departmental standards as well as applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and replaces such items as filters, pumps, and underwater lights.
- Ensures the water system for the pool and spa are maintained by tasks such as testing the water for chlorine content, pH factor, and combined chlorine and temperature control.
- Ensures the chemical feed system is maintained and refilled.
- Ensures that regularly scheduled maintenance on all pool and spa equipment is performed; participates in maintenance activities, as necessary.
- Responds to after-hours emergency calls, as needed.
- Responds to complaints promptly and effectively.
- Ensures maintenance records are maintained as required by pertinent regulations.
- Review status reports related to pool conditions and takes action, as appropriate.
- Documents information on preventive maintenance performed on electrical pumps equipment and machinery and monitors a preventive maintenance program.
- Operates and maintains mechanical equipment safely and correctly; operates a department vehicle to transport supplies or conduct related business, as required.
- Operates hand and power tools safely and correctly to accomplish assigned duties.
- Ensures regular inventories of supplies and equipment are conducted.
- Orders, receives, and stores pool and spa and related supplies.
- Establishes emergency procedures for accidents and related issues; reviews and updates on a regular basis.
- Oversees closures of the pool and spa, as necessary.
- Handles administrative work requirements.
- Ensures routine custodial duties are performed as required to maintain the facilities in a clean and safe condition; performs custodial duties, as necessary.
- Provides courteous and cordial service to team members, guests, and vendors.
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless guest service.
- Follows established safety and security policies and procedures including reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions immediately to a supervisor.
- Complies and ensures team members also comply with departmental and the Entertainment Enterprise Division's internal controls, policies, and procedures as well as applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintains appropriate staffing levels; schedules staff to ensure an adequate number are available.
- Supervises and develops direct reports by mentoring, coaching, and providing performance feedback; works collaboratively with them to design professional development plans that support their continuous learning.
- Assigns decision making and work functions in an appropriate manner to maximize effectiveness; clearly communicates the parameters of the delegated responsibility and required actions, constraints, or deadlines.
- Interviews, recommends hires, writes, and issues performance appraisals, resolves problems, provides open communication, and recommends corrective action and/or termination, when appropriate.
- Conducts or ensures all team members receive on-going training.
- Develops the talents and skills of team members as measured by guest satisfaction, team member satisfaction, and successful team member advancement.
- Develops a 'team" atmosphere with team members and takes a pro-active leadership role.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Knowledge of equipment, materials, terminology, and methods used to maintain and operate pools and spas.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of pool and spa maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of standard pool and spa safety precautions and procedures.
- Knowledge of pool controls and safety devices, including Material Safety Data Sheets.
- Knowledge of electrical maintenance, including installation of all sizes of motors, and automatic starting equipment.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions.
- Knowledge of pool and spa sanitation and chlorination systems.
- Knowledge of departmental and the Entertainment Enterprise Division's internal controls, policies, and procedures as well as applicable laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of record-keeping techniques.
- Knowledge of modern custodial methods and use and care of cleaning materials and equipment.
- Skill in the programming and maintenance of pool and spa equipment.
- Skill in caring for and using hand tools and equipment necessary to perform various electrical repair tasks such as volt meters and volt ohm meters (VOM).
- Skill in locating and repairing defects in electrical systems and pool equipment.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively handle pool and spa related emergencies and troubleshoot.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and correctly.
- Ability to diagnose problems and make recommendations.
- Ability to properly install motors and pumps.
- Ability to repair and maintain pumps, filters, and related mechanical equipment.
- Ability to repair and replace damaged parts and equipment.
- Ability to maintain the proper chemistry of pool and spa water.
- Ability to make estimates of materials required.
- Ability to read and interpret pertinent regulations.
- Ability to operate and maintain mechanical equipment safely and correctly.
- Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
- Ability to perform the general custodial duties needed to maintain buildings and grounds in a clean and safe condition.
- Ability to use graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids.
- Ability to lead and develop team members.
- Ability to make decisions and effectively coordinate the work of team members.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work cooperatively with other team members, guests, and vendors.

- Ability to push, pull, and turn a tool cart (maximum weight up to 300 pounds) and wear fitted tool belt (maximum weight up to 20 pounds), with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Qualifications: - High school or General Equivalency Diploma
- Two (2) years' experience in commercial/industrial pool and spa maintenance.
- One (1) year of Lead or Supervisory experience.
- Must either possess or obtain a current Pima County pool certification or National Swimming Pool Foundation Certification as a Pool and Spa Operator® within (3) months of employment.
- Must have a valid Driver's License.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and special events, as needed.
- Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid non-gaming license.
Preferred Qualifications: - First Aid certification.
- Certified Professional Rescuer (CPR) Certification
