Job Description

This requisition is for a Fall C-O Intern expected to work from September to December. As a member of the Johnson Controls Mechanical Engineering Co-Op/Intern, the candidate will be responsible for various engineering activities within the compressor engineering department. Reporting to the engineering manager, the intern will interface directly with compressor engineers, aero engineers, technicians, test lab, and other departments within the company as needed. The role will primarily focus on large centrifugal compressors for York brand water cooled chillers. Responsibilities include following compressor testing, organizing and analyzing test data, creating reports, taking direction from manager and engineers, providing guidance to test operators, interfacing with compressor technicians, understanding and following all relative safety procedures, creating and executing test plans, editing and maintaining work guidelines and instructions for future interns, assisting in various assigned projects within the compressor engineering function, and presenting a summary of activities and key learnings at the conclusion of the internship. The intern must be able to work 40 hours a week onsite at the JADEC office in New Freedom, PA. Required qualifications include current enrollment at an accredited U.S. college or university pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering, demonstrated knowledge in Mechanical Engineering, hands-on mechanical aptitude, familiarity with machine design, solid knowledge of thermodynamics, and U.S. citizenship or legal right to work in the U.S. Preferred qualifications include strong problem solving skills, excellent communication and organizational skills, ability to work within a team environment, flexibility to work on multiple projects, and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
